The V 200, later renamed the Class 120, with its 1,470 kW, is ideally suited for freight train service. This locomotive was the proven M 62 model, which had been delivered to Soviet and foreign railways in Luhansk (Ukraine) for years. From 1966 to 1975, the German Reichsbahn (DR) purchased a total of 378 locomotives of this class.
