INFORMATION ON THE PROTOCOL: Following the Classes 130 (top speed 140 km/h) and 131 (100 km/h), the DR introduced the Class 132 (120 km/h) with electric heating into service in 1974. This configuration represented the optimal locomotive for the DR. Therefore, the DR procured 709 locomotives from the Voroshilovgrad factory. After some initial problems, a reliable and versatile locomotive was available to the operational service. The locomotives delivered in the first year were almost exclusively distributed to important railway depots, responsible for train haulage tasks in international passenger and freight traffic.
