At the end of 2010, Bombardier Transportation received an order for 27 five-car Bombardier TWINDEXX Vario double-decker push-pull trains of the 2010 generation. The trainsets, featuring comfort features for long-distance service, consist of three second-class intermediate cars, one first-class intermediate car, and one second-class control car. The TWINDEXX Vario is a further development of the proven double-decker platform from Grlitz. Each train has 468 seats, including 70 in first class, as well as nine bicycle parking spaces. The trains’ top speed is 160 km/h. The double-decker cars will be equipped to match the comfort of ICE trains for long-distance service.
